Find a way to help!

Many state parks have organized groups of interested citizens that actively support their park. These nonprofit organizations, sometimes referred to as "friends groups," work on behalf of park sites to assist with daily programs, special events, fundraising and public education. These groups serve as important links to local communities and park user groups, as well.

Find Something Special

The Friends Groups of the Texas State Parks are a very important part of the Texans for State Parks organization. Without these groups, the organization and parks would be in dire need. Here you will find information concerning grants, the starting of friends groups, and much more to help and encourage our much needed friends. Please click through to our resources page.

We are pleased to announce the opening of nominations for the 2017 Texans for State Parks Awards Program. We will be recognizing and making awards in the following categories: Anyone can submit a nomination, but we only want one nomination per park in each of the three areas. Each park can provide one nomination in each of the award areas:

The winner of Distinguished Volunteer and the Friend’s Group will be presented at the Annual Texans for State Parks meeting February 24th  at McKinney Falls State Park. The winner of the Ranger Award will be presented at an upcoming TPWD Commission meeting.  In addition to statewide and local publicity for winners in each category, a plaque and a donation will be presented to the winning Friends Group. The winning volunteer will receive a plaque and a free annual Texas State Parks pass.
